Peter Francev, Lecturer at Victor Valley College (California), is flying to London for our November Byron Society Lecture.

This lecture will explore Byron’s utilisation of the sublime, beginning with his earliest influence in Longinus and then moving into his more contemporary guides such as Edmund Burke and Immanuel Kant. The influence of these Titans of the Sublime will be traced in some of Byron’s most popular and contentious works, including Childe Harold’s Pilgrimage (cantos III and IV). Manfred, Cain, and Don Juan.
