Wars and Words – 46th International Byron Conference
28 June-4 July 2021 – Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, Greece
The 2021 Conference of the International Association of Byron Societies will be held at Aristotle University of Thessaloniki from 28th June to 4th July. The 46th IBC will explore how war in all its meanings, symbolisms, and manifestations influenced Byron’s words and worlds, and shaped his poetic and political sensibility. Drawing on recent scholarship in Romantic studies, it will also explore Romantic authors’ preoccupations with war, and how these intersected with Byron’s.
We look forward to welcoming you in Thessaloniki, a city with a history of more than 2,300 years. The second largest city of Greece, Thessaloniki boasts numerous monuments dating to diverse historical periods, which coexist in a singular way and manifest the city’s multicultural and cosmopolitan nature.
Please note that the Call for Papers has opened again. The new deadline for abstracts is 31 December 2020, and notifications will be sent out by 31st January 2021. The exact format of the conference will be decided in the next few months and relevant information will be posted on the conference website as we go forward.
